Celebrating Black History Month with Kay Marion: My Journey of Music and Healing

Updated: Feb 13

I am thrilled to announce an exciting event at Reconsidered Goods in celebration of Black History Month! From February 4th to February 23rd, I will be working tirelessly as the Artist-in-Residence to create a Black Music Marketplace for our community to enjoy, culminating in a grand event on February 24th and 25th. Join me for an unforgettable experience as we celebrate Black artistry, music, and healing.

Meet the Artists:

The Black Music Marketplace event will feature live performances from me and three other talented local Black artists: Sobë, J. Da Storm, and MattonSax. Each artist brings a unique flavor to the stage, promising a diverse and captivating musical experience. I will treat the audience to selections from my latest EP "folk soul," delivering soul-stirring acoustic R&B and soul music vibes. Sobë, a rising star in the Greensboro music scene, will bring her powerful and inspiring R&B and hip hop sound. J. Da Storm, a retro-R&B artist from Greensboro, will captivate audiences with her heartfelt melodies. And MattonSax, a multi-instrumentalist known for his authentic and expressive performances, will showcase his talents on saxophone and vocals.

Event Highlights:

The Black Music Marketplace event will offer three types of experiences for our community to enjoy FOR FREE:

1. Live Performances: Sit back and enjoy live performances from me and our talented lineup of local artists. Let our music transport you and uplift your spirits with its soulful melodies and powerful lyrics.

2. Song Circles: Join me for an open invitation to musicians of all skill levels to come together and jam with the public. Bring your instruments and join in the fun as we create music together in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our theme is “Celebrating Black Music History”.

3. Black Healing through Sound Demonstrations: Experience the history of Black American Sound Healing with me as I share the story of my ancestral practice and guide you through a transformative healing journey. Let the power of music soothe your soul and uplift your spirit as we explore the healing traditions of Southern Black American communities.
