Updated: Jun 11

CATENA BERGEVIN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT RECONSIDERED GOODS, BECOMES HIGH POINT ARTS COUNCIL’S NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

GREENSBORO and HIGH POINT, N.C., June 11, 2025  The High Point Arts Council is pleased to announce and welcome Catena Bergevin as its new Executive Director. Bergevin will officially begin her role on July 21, 2025.

Bergevin brings over 25 years of leadership in the arts and nonprofit sectors, as well as a lifelong passion for community engagement and creative expression. Originally from San Diego, California, she has held key roles with organizations such as the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, the Mattress Factory Contemporary Art Museum, Elsen Associates Inc. and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art.

As Executive Director of Reconsidered Goods (RG), Greensboro’s only creative reuse nonprofit featuring a 15,000-square-foot resale store and donation center, an education studio and an artist residency, Bergevin launched the award-winning event Trash Bash, an art competition and exhibition celebrating reuse and sustainability, which was recognized for best innovative programming at the 2024 Carolina Recycling Association Conference. Bergevin’s leadership positioned Reconsidered Goods as a leader in the Triad nonprofit community and the national creative reuse industry.

Bergevin currently chairs the City of Greensboro’s Cultural Arts Commission, teaches in the Arts Administration Program at UNC Greensboro and serves as a faculty member of the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium, where she facilitates monthly Community-Centric Fundraising meetings.

“I am overjoyed for this opportunity to lead the High Point Arts Council, whose mission so closely aligns with my passion for advocating and supporting local artists and arts organizations,” said Bergevin. “I look forward to working alongside staff and the Board of Directors in furthering their impact in Guilford County.”

The Reconsidered Goods Board of Directors has formed a search committee to identify Bergevin’s successor and plans to bring on an Interim Executive Director during the transition period. Board Chair Heather Rushforth and Vice Chair Hillary Zaken will lead efforts to ensure a smooth organizational transition during this time.

“Catena has made a lasting impact on Reconsidered Goods,” said board chair Heather Rushforth. “She raised the organization’s profile, brought in new audiences and helped us achieve the goals of our strategic plan. Under her leadership, we saw record fundraising, stronger community ties and a clear vision for what creative reuse can look like in the Triad.”

As Executive Director of the High Point Arts Council, Bergevin will lead the Council’s programs, partnerships and strategic growth, building on its mission to support and promote the arts throughout High Point.
